What is the New Year’s Eve 2022 event in Pokémon Go?
The Pokémon Go New Years event is a recurring event that happens every January to mark the New Year. The event features plenty of Pokémon dressed in party hats, silly glasses, and fancy clothing, as well as field research, timed research, and more. This year will also feature plenty of Pokemon Eggs and bonuses for quickly hatching those eggs and earning tons of rewards.
When is the 2022 New Year’s Eve event in Pokémon Go?
The New Year 2022 event begins on Friday December 31, 2021 and ends on Tuesday January 4, 2022.
Potentially shiny Pokémon are marked with an asterisk.
Costumed pokemon
Most of the Pokémon featured in the 2022 New Year’s Eve event are costumed Pokémon. Old and new costumes will be shown, including the following:
- Bulbasaur * wearing a party hat
- Charmander * wearing a party hat
- Squirtle * wearing a party hat
- Ratify * wear a party hat
- Nidorino * wearing a party hat
- Pichu * wearing a New Years hat
- Pikachu * wearing a New Years hat
- Raichu wearing a New Years hat
- Slowpoke * wears glasses 2020
- Slowbro * wears 2021 glasses
- Slowking wears glasses 2022
- Gengar * wearing a party hat
- Hoothoot * wearing a New Years hat
- Wurmple * wearing a party hat

Players will be able to encounter the following Pokémon in the wild during the duration of the event:

During the New Year 2022 event, the following Pokémon will be available in raids:

Eggs
The 2022 New Year’s Eve event is primarily focused on Pokémon Eggs from freebies. You’ll want to collect as many goodies as possible to earn 7km Eggs which will contain the following Pokémon:
- Costumed Bulbasaur *
- Costume Charmander *
- Costumed Squirtle *
- Slowpoke costumed *
- Costumed hoothoot *
- Costumed Pichu *
- Costumed Wurmple *
Field research
During the event, players will be able to spin PokéStops and Gyms to earn Event-exclusive Field Research tasks. We don’t know yet what the specific tasks will be, but there will be tasks that reward players with the following Pokémon encounters:
- Costumed Bulbasaur *
- Costume Charmander *
- Costumed Squirtle *
- Slowpoke costumed *
- Costumed hoothoot *
Timed search
As we continue the Heritage Season, the 2022 New Years event will feature a timed research line that will reward players with encounters with costumed Pokémon.
