What is the Power Plant event in Pokémon Go?

Final Door Lock Pokemon Go Season Of Heritage

The Power Plant event is the final event in the Season of Heritage storyline for Pokémon Go. Spark, the leader of Team Instinct has determined that the final lock of the Mysterious Gate will require Electric-type Pokémon to be unlocked. It uses Trainers to catch and battle Pokémon from the Kanto and Kalos Power Plants, including a newcomer to Pokémon Go: Helioptile!

However, Spark isn’t the only one trying to walk through that door. After months of near-silence, it looks like Team GO Rocket is invading again!

When is the Power Plant event in Pokémon Go?

The Power Plant event will begin on January 19 and run until February 1, 2022. It will be split into two parts, with the second part starting on January 24.

Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny are indicated with an asterisk.

During the Power Plant event, the following Pokémon will see their spawns increase:

  • Pikachu*
  • Climb *
  • Voltorb *
  • Electrode
  • Electrabuzz*
  • Volteon
  • *
  • Thing *
  • Helioptile

Raids

Raids for the Power Plant event will be split into two halves. The first half of the event will run from January 19-24, and the second half will end on February 1. In addition to a special range of raids, the event’s legendary raids will include event-exclusive moves. Genesect (Shock Drive) caught during the first half of the event will know the move Techo Blast, while Regice caught during the second half will know Thunder.

The first part will feature the following Pokémon in raids:

  • Pikachu* (one star)
  • Beldum* (one star)
  • Shinx* (one star)
  • Blitzle* (one star)
  • Klink* (one star)
  • Scyther* (three stars)
  • Typhlosion (three stars)
  • Mawile* (three stars)
  • Druddigon* (three stars)
  • Genesect (Shock Drive) (five stars)

Part 2 will feature the following Pokémon in raids:

  • Pikachu* (one star)
  • Beldum* (one star)
  • Shinx* (one star)
  • Blitzle* (one star)
  • Klink* (one star)
  • Dewgong (three stars)
  • Piloswine (three stars)
  • Monferno (three stars)
  • Druddigon* (three stars)
  • Regice* (five stars)

Field research

During the Power Plant event, players will be able to pick up event-exclusive Field Research tasks from PokéStops and Gyms. We don’t yet know what those specific tasks will be, but we do know that they will reward players for encountering the following Pokémon:

  • Magnemite *
  • Voltorb *
  • electricity*
  • Joltik
  • Helioptile
  • Alolan Grimer *
  • Thing *
  • Emolga
