Reliance Jio will be the first official Niantic partner in India, and Reliance Digital Stores will appear as Pokestops and Gyms in game.
Thousands of Reliance Digital stores and some local partners in India will appear as “PokeStops” or “Gyms” in the Pokemon GO game starting Wednesday.
“We are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokemon GO in India.” Said John Hanke, managing director and founder of Niantic. “It’s exciting to see Pokemon fans in India go out and explore their neighborhoods looking for Pokemon, and Jio’s disruptive high-speed 4G LTE Network will be a great way to experience the game.”
The two companies will work together to provide Indians with a richer, more enjoyable mobile entertainment experience for Pokemon GO, including activating Jio outlets and recharging stations like PokeStops and Gyms in the game and allowing Indians to Take, train and fight in Jio throughout the country.
