Today, Niantic announced the launch of the Pokémon Go Battle League ranking. As of April 10, 2020, players will have access to the leaderboard, which will display the top 500 players, including each player’s nickname, team, rank, score and total number of games. You must be at least rank 7, and any kind of disciplinary action or inappropriate names will disqualify you, but otherwise at the end of each day the top 500 players in the world will be placed in the rankings.
To celebrate this launch, Niantic has also announced a new type of event. Go Battle Day is a brand new event that will spotlight a Pokémon from the Go Battle League. This special Pokémon will support multiple reward encounters from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time, and will grant star dust twice for capture. Additionally, throughout the day, players can fight up to 20 sets of Go fights, allowing coaches to up to 100 individual battles. This first Go Battle Day will feature Marill: the Pokémon Aqua Mouse. Marill evolves towards Azumarill, a very popular Pokémon in the Grand League.
