Pokémon Go is celebrating Pokémon Journeys with Animation Week Event

Halloween 2020 has ended in Pokémon Go, so it’s time for the next event: Animation Week 2020. This event celebrates the continuing adventures of Ash and Goh in Pokémon Journeys. There will be plenty of raids, eggs, research and of course Pokémon! At iMore, we’ve got everything you need to know to get the most out of this event!

What is the Pokémon Go 2020 animation week?

Starting November 6, 2020, Animation Week is a week-long event celebrating the current Pokémon series, Pokémon Journeys. Some of the things you will have to look forward to include:

  • World Cap Pikachu * will breed in the wild with the potential to be brilliant.
  • From Thursday November 5, 2020 until Monday November 16, Lugia * will be back in Legendary Raids with the exclusive Aeroblast attack move.
  • A new line of timed research inspired by Pokémon Journeys will be available.
  • Scyther * and Goh will appear as a special instant surprise.
  • Goh-inspired avatar items are available in the Style Store.

Timed search for Pokémon Go 2020 animation week

The animation week offers a special timed search. As a reminder, this Research is set up similar to the Special Research with several sequential steps each comprising three tasks; however, it can only be completed during the event. If you don’t complete, you won’t be able to continue after the event ends. The rewards for completing this timed research are pretty good, including evolutionary items, Pokémon encounters, and even Mega Venusaur energy! Fortunately, the tasks are all fairly easy to accomplish.

The first step

  1. Catch five Pokémon for three Razz Berries.
  2. Transfer a Pokémon for three Super Potions.
  3. Make three nice throws for five PokéBalls.

Completion Rewards: World Hat Pikachu encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Second step

  1. Compete against another trainer for three Hyper Potions.
  2. Fight in a raid for three revives.
  3. Win a raid for an incense.

Completion rewards: Sinnoh Stone, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Third step

  1. Defeat three Team GO Rocket Grunts for 20 Mega Venusaur Energy.
  2. Catch two Pokémon with Weather Boost for 20 Mega Venusaur Energy.
  3. Catch three Grass-type Pokémon for 20 Mega Venusaur Energy.

Completion Rewards: Ivysaur encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Step four

  1. Give your Pokémon Buddy three treats for five Razz Berries.
  2. Earn a heart with your Pokémon Buddy for five Pinap Berries.
  3. Earn a candy by walking with your Pokémon Buddy for five Nanab Berries.

Completion Rewards: Snorlax encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Fifth step

  1. Catch three Bug-type Pokémon for three Pinap Berries.
  2. Use three berries to help catch Pokemon for three big balls.
  3. Make a great throw for a meeting with Venonat.

Completion Rewards: Scyther encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Sixth step

  1. Fight twice in a gym for a FastTM.
  2. Win a Gym Battle for a Hariyama encounter.
  3. Fight another trainer for three super potions.

Completion Rewards: ChargedTM, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Seventh step

  1. Hatch an egg for an encounter with Tentacool.
  2. Spin three PokéStops or Gyms for a Piplup encounter.
  3. Spin three PokéStops or Gyms for a Croagunk encounter.

Completion Rewards: Psyduck encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Step eight

  1. Make three nice throws in a row for a meeting with Cyndaquil.
  2. Catch a Flying-type Pokémon for a Hoothoot encounter.
  3. Purify a Shadow Pokémon for a Lucky Egg.

Completion Rewards: Fearow encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Ninth step

  1. Evolve three Pokémon to get a Silver Pinap Berry.
  2. Upgrade three Pokémon for an encounter with Dratini.
  3. Transfer five Pokémon for an encounter with Dewgong.

Completion rewards: Dragon Scale, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Step ten

  1. Catch five Pokémon for 10 Ultra Balls.
  2. Make three big throws for an encounter with Magnemite.
  3. Fight in a raid for three Max Revives.

Completion Rewards: Gengar encounter, 500 Stardust, 500 XP.

Eleventh step

  1. Automatically completed for 1000 XP.
  2. Automatically completed for 1000 XP.
  3. Automatically completed for 1000 XP.

Completion Rewards: World Hat Pikachu encounter, 500 Stardust, 1000 XP.
