Abra won’t have a special day this month, but Pokémon Go will make it easier without the crowds.
Niantic went on Twitter tonight to announces postponement of Community Day events in Pokemon Go and Harry Potter Wizards Unite. Citing the risks presented by COVID-19 and their commitment to the health and safety of their players, these two monthly meetings are postponed until further notice. In addition to postponing Community Days, Niantic has also announced changes to Pokémon Go to make the game more rewarding for solo play.
A pack of 30 Incense for a PokéCoin is now available to players for purchase via the application. Incense, a special object in the game that attracts wild Pokémon, will also last one hour each, instead of the usual 30 minutes. In addition to this special pack, the following bonuses have been applied to Pokémon Go until further notice:
- The hatching distance of eggs placed in incubators during this period has been reduced by half.
- Gifts fall more frequently from PokéStops.
- More Pokémon breed in the wild and their habitats are growing.
For the moment, Niantic has not announced any similar changes to Harry Potter Wizards Unite, but we will be the first to update you if such changes are announced.
Will these changes be enough to keep you playing Pokémon Go during this period of social distancing? If so, be sure to check out our full Pokédex, as well as our many Pokémon Go guides, but, as always, play safe coaches.
