Today, Niantic announced the official start date for the first season of Pokémon Go Battle League. Players have only one week left to participate in the Pokémon Go Battle League preseason before the start of the first season. On Friday, March 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PST, coaches will be able to participate in the first official season of the highly anticipated Pokémon Go Battle League.
To celebrate the start of the first season, starting today, March 5 at 1 p.m. PST, the three leagues will be available until March 13. Coaches who have not yet participated in the Pokémon Go Battle League preseason will have the opportunity to try all three leagues, and any player reaching rank 4 or higher at the end of the preseason will find a Premium Battle Pass among its other end of preseason rewards.
In addition, starting tomorrow, March 6 at 8 a.m. local time, players will have the chance to meet Darkrai for completing the Go Battle League sets. This rare chance on the Mythical Dark type Pokémon will only be available until Monday March 9 at 10 p.m. local time, so don’t miss the opportunity! If you are really lucky, your Darkrai might even be brilliant! Then, from Friday March 13 at 8:00 a.m. to Monday March 16 at 10:00 p.m. local time, the Giratina Altered Forme will be available to complete the Go Battle League sets. This legendary Pokémon will also have the potential to be brilliant! And, as we discovered earlier, Niantic has confirmed that Thundurus is also available as a reward for completing the Go Battle League sets and will remain out of time for Darkrai and Giratina until further notice.
In addition, a launch event will bring Altered Forme Giratina, along with other Pokémon that have performed well in the Go Battle League, to raids from Friday March 13 at 8 a.m. to Monday March 16 at 10 p.m. local time. Combat-type Pokémon will appear more in the wild, and players may even encounter brilliant Timbur! Players fighting Premium Go Combat League sets that win all five games will also be rewarded with a Premium Combat Pass and the limit of five battle sets will be raised to seven for the duration of the event, allowing players to fight up to 35 battles a day. On top of all that, the Stardust rewards for the Go Battle League will be increased.
