Trainers, Niantic has announced a new limited-time trial to increase commercial distance. The test runs until Monday, November 16, 2020 and allows Trainers to perform operations up to 12 KM away.
The official post did not include the actual distance, but a quick experiment by members of the TheSilphRoad subreddit showed that 12 KM is a limit for making trades during this test.
In Europe, it often happens that most of the players you normally interact with live within a 12KM radius of you. We assume our American readers have their most widespread social circles, but let us know in the comments below if this is the case.
What does this mean for the potential to introduce remote trading in Pokémon GO? Honestly, not much, but Niantic is testing the waters.

Make the most of it and do those lucky trades while you have time! Good luck, Trainers.
As a limited-time trial, starting Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Until Monday, November 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. M. PST (GMT −8), the trading range will increase! Depending on the information gathered from this test, we may include a higher trading range as part of future events.
Time to trade, Trainers!
