Social media has been a flurry of excitement after some eagle-eyed Pokémon GO trainers noticed what they believe is a possible Kecleon teaser in the background of the recent Friendship Week promo image. Could we finally see Kecleon coming to Pokémon GO !? Or is it just an illusion?
Of course, this is sadly pure speculation, but many players seem to be convinced! Hidden just above Tangela, there is a textured area on the tree. Many people think this is Kecleon’s camouflaged eye and face, so let’s take a closer look.
Do you see this place here? This is where hopeful people have spied on what they think Kecleon is. Sadly, I’m pretty sure it’s just a knot in the tree, and it’s been mentioned online that the original stock image used in this promo has been found, and it’s detailed on the tree trunk.
Exaggeration can be tricky! We’ve had many teasers in the past with these sorts of images, from the arrival of Team GO Rocket, which was seen hiding behind trees, to the introduction of Smeargle, which was teased through splatters of green paint in photos. promotional items from AR. Most recently, we were teased with Sylveon’s shadowy outline on the new Spring 2021 loading screen, and many gamers were convinced they could see a shadowy impression of Arceus towards the top of the waterfall.
Sadly, we tend to lean towards the view that Kecleon won’t appear in Pokémon GO any time soon just yet. We don’t have data-mined information on any kind of cloak mechanic, so the only way to introduce it currently would be through something like the GO Snapshot photobomb or a research mission. Poor Kecleon, we can’t wait to see you in the game!
However, we’ve seen other suggestions for Kecceon in other Pokémon games recently, including Pokémon Snap. Joe merrick spotted Kecleon in this official Pokémon Snap image, confirming his appearance in this long-awaited game.
See that little zigzag in the lower right? That’s Kecleon’s belly stripe.
When zoomed in, it’s pretty clear a Kecleon from the shape, so if we get teasers for Kecleon in the future for Pokémon GO, that distinctive zigzag stripe might be the thing to look out for. There is no ambiguity in this, it is quite obvious what is being provoked, which seems to be the format of these suggestions and previews that we are generally given with Pokémon GO as well. Really subtle teasers like a wavy tree hunk just don’t seem to fit the bill, but we can dream!
I’m sure many will see this Pokémon Snap sneak peek and think it might also tie into the Pokémon GO Snap celebration event, but not to mention Niantic’s Kecleon and the brilliant Smeargle that will be released via the Snapshot photobomb feature, simply it seems that too. good to be true.
As the only Pokémon missing from Generation III, we’d love to see Kecleon appear in the game soon, especially with the introduction of the new platinum badges. It seems we’ve been waiting for you so long right now. One day!
How do you think Kecleon will eventually present itself? Will Niantic discover the mechanics of camouflage or will it be a disappointment like the brilliant Ditto on a mission?
