0.209.0 APK Teardown: New moves, Quest Branching, Inventory upgrades and more

Hello coaches! 0.209.0 is currently being deployed on a device near you! To remind everyone, Niantic has regained the obfuscation with a vengeance, a lot of things were hidden again, but there are some interesting things that were discovered.

You can read the breakdown of the original PokéMiners here. Go give them a positive vote! By now you know the drill, everything in this article is data-minded and therefore subject to change or not even published. You’ll also see a running theme as we go along, that much of this seems unfinished.

New movement … visual effects?

fx/attacks/fiery_dance

Visual effects for the Fairy Wind fast move and Fiery Dance charge move have been added. The interesting thing is that Fiery Dance is Volcarona’s exclusive move. Fiery Dance has a 50% chance to increase the user’s attack in the main series games, while Fairy Wind has no side effects.

NOTE: These moves are not in the game yet, only the visual effects have been added. So we’re at least another game update and a Game Master update far from seeing them, and a Volcarona release for Fiery Dance.

Global challenge text

Removed TEXT: All Trainers participating in a global challenge will contribute to a global goal. Once Trainers achieve the goal, a timed bonus will activate for all participants and remain active until the next global challenge starts.

Added TEXT: All Trainers participating in a global challenge will contribute to a global goal. Once Trainers achieve the goal, a timed bonus will activate for all participants.

They removed the “stay active until the next global challenge begins.” part from the end.
